1. Browser-safe color palette is a range of colors (216 out of 256 colours) used by Mosiac, Netscape and Internet Explorer within their browsers. Palettes used by the browsers may differ on Macintosh and PCs.
2.No, it isn’t. This is because most computer users do not view the web in 256 colours anymore.
3. Arial, Helvetica, Comic Sans MS, Courier New, Georgia, Imapct, Lucida Console, Lucida Sans Unicode, Lucida Grande, Palatino Linotype, Book Antiqua, Tahoma, Geneva, Times New Roman, Trebuchet MS, Verdana, Symbol, Webdings, MS Sans Serif, MS Serif.
4. Page load time is the time taken for the browser to retrieve the HTML, KML or javascript from the server to load a new page. It will influence my design as I have to decide if i should let viewers wait for the graphics on my webpage to load or if i should keep it simple and sweet thus making the page fast loading, which will improve user experience.
5. The web design process is broken down to seven simple steps which are ” concept, discovery, content development, design, development, launch and post-launched”, as quoted from Smileycat Web Design Blog.
Before coming up with a concept, one should do some research to get some ideas, like observing how other existing web pages’ layout etc. Next, one should sketch out their ideas in small thumbnails. After choosing one idea, one would then have to move on to content development, whereby the web designer has to find the images and typefaces resources. Then, a mock-up would be done to get a overall view.
Then, all the HTML, XHTML, Flash, Java etc. work would be done next. Upon finishing, cross-platfrom testing must be done, to ensure that visitors would be able to view the website without any problems. Once testing is done and all is well, the website would be launched. There is still plenty of work to be done like ensuring no new bugs occur, updating the website’s content etc.
Designing a website for a client requires one to ensure that the client’s goals of their site should be met, so as to successfully attract visitors.
I think that the web design process is the same as any design process, which is one should always observe, plan and analyse before diving straight to work/designing. However, different people have their own ways of doing their work, thus to each his own.
I think that if one is organised, positively sure of what he/she can do and the main goals of the website, one should have no problem creating a decent website.
